I had a great weekend in Amsterdam, but not for the reasons you might imagine. Dinner at Peter Cohen's with mom's friends, I was in such good hands (after abstaining for a month) I don't have to spell it out for you, do I.

I hesitate to write an entry because it requires that I acknowledge the passing of time, which requires that I acknowledge that I have only two weeks left in Paris before the plane on which I have a reservation is scheduled to depart. I am, in a word, conflicted about this fact. It forces me to ponder...

But life goes on...and I tend to my domestic duties...

Jill came to visit, here she is very happy with the lovely Warren...

You've all heard of boule, but did you know that the adorable retired French men who play boule in Le Jardin de Luxembourg have a special rack on which to hang their coats while they play? So civilized.

Pia took me to a party. Apparently it was a typical young, rich, Parisian party. It was okay.

That night Pia told me that I was going to be a bad influence on her...but how is that possible?

Week One...

...Involved a lot of drinking and eating alone. Which was a pleasure really...

Pia returned from Sweden and we went out with her friend Severine, and her friend Emmanuel. We talked about French politics.

The young intelligencia of Paris hate Sarkozy. Though, I am still not exactly sure why.

Emmanuel referred to him as a Nazi Jew, which is probably, like, the worst thing I have ever heard.

The First Day(ish)

The day before I left, at brunch with my Dad, I was pretty freaked out...

My bags were packed...

Once alone at JFK I promptly began my vacation...

On the plane I remained calm...

I arrived in Dublin on Tuesday morning...

The plane to Paris was difficult. I hadn't slept in like 20 hours. Finally I arrived in Paris. Because I am a trooper, I took the metro from Charles de Gaulle to Pia's apartment.

I thought my hands would be covered in blisters. My bags were so fucking heavy. Taking the metro was a mistake. I should have taken a taxi. I had to stop and rest every 15 feet between the metro and Pia's.

Voila Chez Pia!!

Alone, but ecstatic to be in Paris, I went to a bar, Le Tournesol. There I met some friendly Frenchies. They paid for everything. But I hadn't eaten since Dublin. But I think I was too excited (drunk) to care...

Is there anything sexier than a 6'2" Frenchman driving stick shift in a tiny car through the streets of Paris? Peut-etre, mais je ne pense pas...
